A Notch Up & The Climb

A notch up

Alhamdulillah I passed my first comprehensive exam. Either it was helped by the exam panel as a few friends claimed it or it was just my luck but I do believe it was the help from Allah. Yes, I went through a terrible moment in the oral exam and yes I felt like being so stupid in front of those exam panel whenever I couldn’t answer the foundation questions. Yes, I did felt like running and hiding under the duvey and never resurface after the exam panel commenting my answers. But yes, I do believe in doa and prayer everytime I’m hoping for something. Again, Alhamdulillah I passed and a notch up for me. But yes, there are more challenges and hurdles ahead.

The Climb

A friend sent me this song with a meaningful lyric. A good motivation. TQ! TQ! And TQ!

Random Entry

Study

Not much progress. I finished all the course work, but still I’m still studying for another comprehensive exam in September.

Exam Result

Exam result will come out tomorrow. Just praying for the best.

Lazy

Lately, I find I’m struggling to write in my blog. Really in lazy mood and no zest of writing.

Fever

I was down with fever after a day trip 12 hours drove back to and fro to HUSM, twice in a week went back to kg. Age is catching and I know my body cannot take it anymore driving for the long hour journey plus the hot weather make it worst..

Apa yang penting kerjasama – spongebox

On the way to U*M I listened to a caller who gave a comment to hot fm about the seemed ridiculous transfer fee one of the football players to Real Madrid club. Some interesting point when he said it is not only about how good the player is or how much we spend on him but for the team as a whole apa yang penting kerjasama ( sing like a sponge box song.). True enough, right?!. P/s : Why I do have to ramble about this since I’m not a football fan and none of my brothers do?

Height & Happiness

If you provide some happiness, some comfort to others, then your life becomes meaningful. If your life creates problems or suffering to others, then there is no meaning to your existence - Reader's Digest , July 2003

This is what I read from Greg Mankiw's blog about height and happiness ( a correlation?)

The latest research from Angus Deaton and Raksha Arora (via Kevin Denny):
According to the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index daily poll of the US, taller people live better lives, at least on average. They evaluate their lives more highly, and they are more likely to report a range of positive emotions such as enjoyment and happiness. They are also less likely to report a range of negative experiences, like sadness, and physical pain, though they are more likely to experience stress and anger, and if they are women, to worry. These findings cannot be attributed to different demographic or ethnic characteristics of taller people, but are almost entirely explained by the positive association between height and both income and education, both of which are positively linked to better lives.

*WHAT TEACHERS MAKE*

I promised Is something but due to my laziness I didn’t do anything and didn’t even wish her happy teacher’s day. I know it is a bit late. Is, my friend is a teacher who teaches in Hulu Sungai Rejang sacrificed her new buying house and her car to ride in express and boat to arrive to her school. She is the only female Muslim teacher who patiently teaches her students who hardly understands either Bahasa Melayu or English. A teacher who was willingly traveled for three days by bus just to bring her student for a story telling competition. A teacher who bought her student the necessities that was supposed to be bought by their parents. A teacher who carried the weight of biscuits and cakes in her bag for her students who never taste kuih raya. A teacher who only contacts me every time she is out to the nearest town because there is no line coverage for her phone and internet connection in her school area. Putting me in her position I don’t think I’m strong as her. So this story is a tribute to you Is and to all teachers

*WHAT TEACHERS MAKE*

The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life. One
man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued,
'What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in
life was to become a teacher?'

He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about teachers:
'Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.'

To stress his point he said to another guest; 'You're a teacher,
Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?'

Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, 'You
want to know what I make? (She paused for a second, then began...)

'Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could.

I make a C+ feel like the Congressional Medal of Honor.

I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their parents
can't make them sit for 5 without an I Pod, Game Cube or movie rental.

You want to know what I make?' (She paused again and looked at each and
every person at the table.)

''I make kids wonder.

I make them question.
I make them apologize and mean it.
I make them have respect and take responsibility for their actions.

I teach them to write and then I make them write.
Keyboarding isn't everything.
I make them read, read, read.
I make them show all their work in maths.

They use their God given brain, not the man-made calculator.

I make my students from other countries learn everything they need to
know in English while preserving their unique cultural identity.
I make my classroom a place where all my students feel safe.

Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts they were
given, work hard, and follow their hearts, they can succeed in life.'

(Bonnie paused one last time and then continued.)

'Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, with me knowing
money isn't everything; I can hold my head up high and pay no attention
because they are ignorant...

You want to know what I make?

*I MAKE A DIFFERENCE.* What do you make Mr. CEO?'

His jaw dropped, he went silent.
