this is what my SV said.
2. I told my supervisor I'm blur with what he asked me to do. He said if I'm not blur definitely I will already got my Phd. I'm still blur whether he was making a joke or giving me an advice.
3. Garry Kasparov, the chess legend said:-
* Constant change requires more than knowledge
• In order to change, we must believe
• We must sacrifice the convenience and comfort in order to be better, to improve
• We must know when to stop analyzing, stop asking and make the move
• Always ask WHY?
• People would never remember who is the 2nd best
• You can be good if you can provide what people want. But you can be great if you can provide what people might want.
• Must recognise your strength and improve weaknesses. Once you’ve done this, create an environment for you to win.
4. Note: Nothing relates between what had been said by these two people. Don't crack your head to think why I wrote it here. I'm just blur.
There is a big difference between DREAM and AIM. DREAM requires soundless sleep, where AIM requires sleepless efforts.

The First Week & The First Hurdle
During the first week of the new year I thought I was going to write a review about my achievement/non achievement in 2009 but what I did was too busy writing a totally wrong literature review.
The starting of year 2010 was thought to be a good start for me. I met with my future SV (future because he haven't sign the form saying I will by supervised by him). He asked me what was area of my interest. When I told him about the research proposal he told me he got the grant under the outstanding institution about that area and agreed to be my SV. Sound interesting to start a new year when your research will be funded. However, the topic was slightly changed to suit the area. I have no problem with that and took the topic given to me. Nevertheless, I had some doubt when I was working with journals. The topic seemed not related at all with the previous topic as I could remembered my SV said it just a slightly changed. I couldn't find any links. I got that doubt but kept it to myself as I thought i might not have enough knowledge on the area and maybe I should read more and do more research. Then, I voiced my doubt to my friends and they said it was normal as they thought I was still couldn't understand the topic very well.
I worked hard on that topic until today I met him again. The first thing come out from my mouth was asking him politely to repeat the topic given. My doubt and instinct was absolutely right. I missed an important word in the topic that lead the wrong direction and I read the wrong literature reviews. Serve me right. I wasted a lot of time on that and it was totally useless. Well....of course have to do it again.
You might asked me why didn't I met him earlier to clarify my doubt? Ha3x. Do you know the syndrome of student vs SV?. Students are always afraid to ask a lot of questions or asking many times as they afraid might been said not working hard enough to understand the research. Me included. Again what else I can say... serve me right lah .
Moral of the story; malu bertanya sesat jalan
