I’m reviewing an article of game theory as a part of my assignment. We were asked to give a comment and an improvement on this article. Basically, this game theory is a branch of applied mathematics and it shows an interaction between rational players. A game will consists of a set of players, a set of moves (or strategies) available to those players, and a specification of payoffs for each combination of strategies.
When I read this article it seems there is not much difference with chess game. It has rules and certain basic tactical, strategic, and positional concepts. But this game theory is definitely more theoretical than chess game. Maybe chess is a subset of game theory. I remembered one of our team members is a Bangladeshi doctor who serve in Medical Faculty in our university (Other teams will always make fun of us because of him by saying that we use imported player) who is a strong chess player. In any tournament, before the game starts, he will come and motivate us. His words will be, "think about what you can do to your opponent and what your opponent can do to you". This is an example of game theory because we must anticipate and calculate what your opponent is going to decide and we have take into account their decision before making our decision.
Reviewing this paper is just like analyzing the chess game after our games end. However, analyzing the game is much simpler because usually we will sit together (sometimes at teh tarik stall) analysing our game and finding the best movement of our pieces. During this time we can see the brilliance and the blunders in our own play. We use all the probabilities and theories of movement to find the best solution. But now as I’m reviewing and need to give comment on the theoretical article from a well known researcher and it is published in the referred journal is just like analyzing chess game by Kasparov. As I’m amateur player absolutely it seems formidable for me to find his mistakes. Flawless!.

Zu,
Bagi je ide- ide yg tidak terpikir oleh org lain. Mungkin ide kita dianggap mengarut tapi sape tau itu mungkin yang terbaik.
Assalamua'laikum,.. Dear Azuriy,
My opinion; Perhaps the way shown (adab)by Muslim scholars (e.g. Imam Shafie') can be a good guide for you. He never had any doubt of what his teacher (Imam Maliki)or other scholars has explained and confirmed regarding any knowledge. He even supported and spread to others. What he did was only add some other values (no reduction) to suit the needs of certain societies.
At the moment, you might not be able to find any weakness of the theory given by the well known researcher. What you can do is, combine your idea/hypothesis to the theory (like, introducing new parameter)to suit Malaysian or most importantly muslim needs.(just suggestion).
Well, this is not my field really. You are right that more reading will/can make us see the issue/case in so many angles. However sometimes we need to put ourselves outside of the case for unexpected but logical solution (remember the answer given by the computer technician to you?).
It is a good practice to always have a small note book and a pencil with you. When ever the ideas come or heard from some body or saw from other articles, you can immediately jot down the points. Thats more appropriate for a PhD student like you, rather be at the end become another type of PhD holder-(Permanent head Damage) Ha..ha..ha.. just joking. Have a nice day, keep smiling and take care. Ilalliqa' wassalamah
